Tom Dorresteijn (1962) is a strategist with the heart of a designer. Over the last twenty years he has been active in the world of branding, marketing communication and design from the perspective of brandowner, consultant, partner and insider. From April 2005 Tom is strategy director and 50% partner at Studio Dumbar. He advises companies on board level on branding strategy, and leads the creative processes. Tom is initiator of Dumbar Branding; the joint venture in Shanghai. Based in Rotterdam and Shanghai, Studio Dumbar has an international reputation and client portfolio. Since its foundation in 1977 the agency is internationally acclaimed for winning prestigious awards for its design concepts. Examples of clients: KPN (communication), Randstad (employment), TNT Post Europe (postal services), Marlies Dekkers (fashion), several Dutch government ministeries, the government of the independent state of Sint Maarten, the South Korean Home Office, the European Central Bank, HuaLung (Taiwan), Champalimaud Foundation (Portugal), SAIC (China) and Buick (China). Since 1 June 2006 Tom is chairman of the Association of Dutch Designers (BNO). Previously he headed the BNO activity platform Creating Brands. Tom has given numerous lectures and has moderated discussions and seminars throughout the world.
